William and I Cosleep (sometimes)

Ok, I've said it.  I always thought co-sleeping was bad.  I thought the best way to get your kid to sleep well in their crib was to not allow them to sleep with you in the big bed.  When I tried to let baby Edie sleep next to me it NEVER worked because she wouldn't fall back asleep.  She's busy even when she's dead tired and half asleep.  She would never stop moving and eventually I would have to get up and put her back in her crib where she would then fall asleep.  I guess she thought she needed to get up and play since she was in the bed next to me.  Edie has always been busy and restless. To her being in the bed with me (even at 3:00 am) signified time to get up.  But to sweet, sweet William being next to mom in bed signifies a time to cuddle and hibernate.  William goes to bed earlier than Edie did when she was his age.  He's ready for bed around 7:00 or 7:30.  I don't mean that I put him down and let him cry at time--- He is asleep at that time and he'll sleep until around 3:00 or 4:00 am.  So I'll give him a bottle at that time in my bed.  Instead of taking him back to his crib I let him snuggle next to me and we'll both go back to sleep.  He'll spend about 15 minutes trying to find he thumb to suck on then he's asleep.  He's a hard sleeper so I can move around and it won't wake him up.  And William is a world class cuddler.

  1. Both the boys slept with us off and on as infants. Adam, even more than Tyler. They are both fantastic sleepers now, so I don't think it hurt! I am a big proponent of doing what is right for you and ignoring the peanut gallery.

Your little ones are adorable, and I can't wait to show Nana your updates!
