French Drain

I installed my first French drain last week.  The two beds we installed them in are downhill from lots turf that gets lots of irrigation.  The turf sits on a paved firelane so the water isn't absorbed into the ground.  Instead it drains downhill, under the pavers to this rose bed and a liriope bed.  The beds had become saturated.  French drain to the rescue.  I didn't get pictures of all the steps but here are some pictures of step one: dig a trench.
