Reading to a Frog

Most nights, if her mood permits, we read to Frog all of her bedtime themed books which is about 6.  But last night Frog was in the mood for lots of reading.  We took turns reading to her for about an hour.  She was so into it that she would fuss in between each book because she didn't want us to stop.  It was so cute.  It is especially funny to sit back and listen to Chris read the books to Edie.  As he is with everything/everyone he encounters, Chris is likewise skeptical of all children's books.  He either doesn't like the plot, illustrations, characters, and/or the message.  The Sleeping House and Good Dog Carl are at the top of his watch list-- doesn't like them, doesn't trust them.  Cowboy Small is walking a slippery slope.

Our favorite books currently include: Fish Eyes, Time for Bed, Goodnight Moon, Farm Animals (anything with pictures of animals), Very Hungry Caterpiller, Very Lonely Firefly (although Chris doesn't like the way Eric Carle draws owls), Fruit, Andy Warhol's Colors, and a few others.  I have found that the smaller the book the better because it is less tempting and easy for her to grab at the pages when I turn them.  Also, at this age board books are best because she wants to rip the paper pages.
