Standing Guard

Torres has been working on this section of sidewalk for about two weeks now.  The former section has a low spot where water was always pooling.  He tore up the old sidewalk and yesterday he poured the new one.  The concrete delivery was delayed a couple of days so he ended up pouring it once the students had returned from Christmas break.  Nothing is more tempting to a SMU student than freshly poured concrete.  It makes a wonderful canvas for all kinds of swear words, names, or Greek fraternity or sorority letters.  Torres finished the sidewalk around 3:00 yesterday afternoon but he had to hang out until it dried to make sure none of the kids wrote anything in the wet concrete.  He said he would rather sit there for 3 hours than have to redo it in the morning.  He sat in his truck watching and waiting until around 6:30 last night!  That's dedication.
