Aunt Liz came in this weekend but, sadly, I don't have a single picture to prove it. I did I really bad job of documenting our full and busy weekend. We spent the majority of the weekend getting Granny and Doc's place ready for a garage sale. Granny spent most of her life collecting the most beautiful furniture, art, and antiques of all kinds that we now are dividing amongst ourselves. We are so fortunate to have had such a knowledgable collector for a mother and grandmother. Saturday afternoon we managed to squeeze in a baby massage for Frog and a dinner with the gp's, Liz, and Jeremiah. And I am trilled to announce that Edie no longer thinks Jeremiah and Ek are the devil. She happily let each of them hold her this weekend. Another big milestone: Edie is holding her own bottle about 60% of the time!!
Check out this great idea for recreating a Pinkberry experience at home. The author, ljc, of ljcfyi, calls it Finkberry, faux Pinkberry. I've never had Pinkberry myself but it is often in the hands of celebs in the pictures on the pages of Us Weekly so I know it must be good and healthy because they seem to live off of it and Starbucks, of course.
If we can start reading to Frog before the p.m. meltdown begins we will read several bedtime themed books each night. Her favorite, and mine, is of course Goodnight Moon. She must like the bright colors. I just love looking at the bedroom scene over and over. Young or old, it really helps the reader wind down.
Can you see the bruise on her left eye lid? I think we need to start calling her Biff.
Last night I cooked my week's special meal. I chose fish tacos. This was easy and good so it will definitely become a regular dinner around here. I was supposed to make a mango relish to go with it but I forgot the recipe so we topped it with avocados. Just sautee a white fish (I used tilapia), a red bell pepper, some onion, and cilantro in a little oil and the juice of one lime. Stir enough to cook and allow the fish to break up into small pieces. I topped it with queso fresco but the recipe called for a sharp cheddar which I now see may have been better because I really couldn't taste the cheese. Plus queso fresco is a lot of herion to me so I ate half the wheel before the fish was done cooking. It also needed some Tabasco or some type of hot sauce when finished because it was a little bland. Next time I will put most of the cilantro in fresh at the end because I really couldn't taste it after it cooked. But it couldn't have been easier.
Frog is full on teething now. She can't sleep in a gown anymore because she will pull it up and chew on it all night. Yesterday morning Chris had to take her out of her night gown early in the morning because it was soaking wet from a night of chewing. Last night I gave her a cloth diaper rag to sleep with so she could chew on it. When I went in around midnight to look at her, she was hugging the rag in her sleep but at 5:00 a.m. she had discarded the rag and was chewing on one of her socks. Her two bottom teeth are also cutting the top of her lip somehow.
We eat on the floor a lot now to be close to the Frog.
I'm thrilled that it's finally getting warm so we can see some Frog skin. Those feet have been in leggings all winter.
I forgot I had pictures in my camera from the weekend. The ones I posted yesterday were taken by my mom. Here are some pictures from our trip to Northpark and some miscellaneous flower pictures from today.
Two thumbs down for Couples Retreat. Try as he might, Vince Vaughn could not keep this movie from sucking. I might have pity laughed once. The casting agent should never work again. The actors had no chemistry. Kristin Davis was particularly bad.
..and my feet have never been this soft. Why? Because of this amazing product. For about $7.00 Gold Bond Ultimate Healing Foot Therapy Cream will make your feet super soft. I mean softer than any pedi has ever left them. Honest. And the softness will last for weeks. One application a week will moisturize and keep your feet soft for weeks!! Weeks people, weeks!!!! After a pedi my feet would be rough by the time the polish dried. Get some at your neighborhood Walgreens and start loving your baby soft feet. This will change your life. You're welcome.
Can you believed it snowed again?! Surely we've had record breaking snowfall this year. Frog spent almost four days with her grandparents this weekend. She spent the night with them Thursday and Friday and all then all day yesterday while I nursed something flu like. On Saturday evening Edie had an accident that was entirely my fault. I was messing around in my closet while Edie played on our bed. She would roll over and move around. Every couple of minutes I would place her back in the center of the bed. I was distracted for too long and she rolled over to the side of the bed and then off, falling about 3 feet, face first to the hardwood floor. We took her to an after hours pediatrician who looked her over and said she was okay. Needless to say I keep living it over and over in my head. I turned around right as she was falling off the bed so I saw it happen. Poor baby. She has a bruise on her forehead and on her cheek.
Sitting up Frog.
Joy II and Sugar in the snow. Yes, my parents have adopted Joy II.
Chris made lasagne last night. I have heard Chris say at least 134 times, "I don't like lasagne; it's slimy." Turns out he doesn't like my lasagne. I have to say when he's not cooking fried carrots or a pork chop covered in canned corn that was boiled in a sauce pan on high for about 20 minutes, Chris can actually make a delicious dish. He used ground veal instead of ground beef. It was perfect! It has a milder taste and a lot less fat. He didn't use the ricotta because when he opened the container he said the look of it scared him. He used mozzarella inside and parmesan on top. Like I said, it was really good.
While the lasagne baked we bathed the Frog. She violently chewed on her wash cloth the entire time. Chewed and kicked and kicked and kicked.
Louie always runs in the bathroom during her bath.
This is LL Bean's new, classic line. I received my catalogue the other day and I want everything in it. Seriously. The clothes are timeless so they would be in your wardrobe until they fell apart or were stained which for me is about one season. Anyway...... here are some of the pictures from the catalogue. Does anything look familiar?!!
If this isn't NE Harbor I'll give away a pap! The three pictures above have got to be NEH. I haven't been to the new Coronel's but I thought this might be it below.
